Overcoming Resistance – Show Up and Go Do It!

Overcoming Resistance - Show Up and Go Do It!

This newsletter is for anyone who has struggled with RESISTANCE!  Some of us are more worried about other people not supporting us and cheering us on. But heck, we need to be more concerned about our self-imposed resistance!  We do not need others to give us the green light to move forward, this momentum and drive has to come from within.  Therefore our own resistance to our progress is the most important to understand and overcome.

Do you have a big project, test, assignment, important conversation, or anything that you are having difficulty following through with and showing up with all that you’ve got? Do you ask yourself:

  • “I don’t know if I can do this?”
  • “I don’t know where to begin?”
  • “Who am I to think I can…?”
  • “I don’t think I have the enough knowledge or the right gifts for this.”
  • “This is hard work, I don’t know if I have it in me.”

I am pretty sure that this has applied to all of us at some point in our lives.

I have to make a confession. I am having a really difficult time completing my exam for my 500 hour Yoga Teacher Training certification!  It is a lengthy and detailed take home exam that takes hours and hours and I have been, quite frankly, avoiding and procrastinating  completing it.  I am typically a go-getter who finishes what I have started. I am so close to finishing this certification, so why am I resisting this exam?

I am not entirely sure, but I do know that putting it out there, I must complete it now. Whew! Having accountability is the tool I will use, so please keep asking if I have been working on my exam!  My emails may be lighter and fluffier the rest of this month so I can focus on my teacher exam.

I really feel that it is important for me to be real.

If you ever think that I or any other person in their respective professions have it all figured out, that is 100% not true!

The following interview is one that I desperately needed to watch to get my butt in gear!  It also is a wonderful reminder that our internal resistance to accomplishing tasks or realizing our potential is completely natural.
